The Official "I Just Beat Hell/MonsterX/etc. For The First Time!" Thread

If you stand on Ballos's third and spam Super Missiles fast enough, assuming you don't run out, you won't even have to worry about Butes because he dies that fast. Never underestimate the SML.
Also, Cyowolf, no I was not being serious on the thread starter. A few people had created threads because they wanted to discuss themselves beating Ballos or the Undead Core, and I thought it was very silly.

Monster X: How many tries did it take you the first time? I got him on my fourth try, which was at 1 AM. For some reason I get better at video games when I am sleep deprived.

 

Took me only 3 tries, spamming the sword works wonders.

 

Ha, I sucked. I'd say it took me about ten tries and a week to recuperate before I could beat X. But evidently that week broke my curse, because every time I've faced her afterwards, I haven't died once. Now 'et's an achievment, I'd say.

 

Her? It, you mean. Didn't we discuss Monster X's gender on IRC?
Anyway, I still have a hell of a time beating Monster X without the Bubbler, which is how I did it the first time. And then I need to get the Blade all the way down from level 3 to level 1 before I reach the Core. Not a very fun part of the game if you're doing it all hardcore-like.

 

I take it by hardcore you mean having only 3 hp the entire time?

Huh, never thought of using the bubbler, I'd just use a lvl 3 blade and good dodging skills.

 

One time I beat Monster X with the Fireball only, just for kicks. I found out that it's a bad idea to do the same with the Core.

 

It was so hard and I had to try like 6 times because those dumb blocks kept getting in my way, but I did it and now I have the Alien Medal and I saw all the squid thingies (are those from some other game?) and then I lost Curly but it was okay because I GOT AN ALIEN MEDAL.
My strategy was to shoot Ironhead with the Missile Launcher and the level 3 Blade until he left and then I stopped shooting him until he came back. THOSE BLOCKS WERE SO HARD!

YOU GUYS THIS IS SUCH AN AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENT AND NOW I AM IN YOUR "GUYS WHO GOT THE ALIEN MEDAL" CLUB YAY IT'S SO IMPORTANT THAT I MADE A NEW THREAD ABOUT IT THAT WILL LAST MAYBE LIKE 2 PAGES BECAUSE SOMEONE WILL START BICKERING BUT THEN THE THREAD WILL DIE BECAUSE IT'S USELESS YAAAYYYY I'M SO HAPPY.

I agree, the first day I was here, there was about 6 of those cursed threads, and maybe if we keep this one alive, the noobish folks will get it. But I doubt it, and we will have to do this again.

At first I didnt understand but I got it eventually.

It not really that super of a boss.

 

Well, the first time I played cavestory it was hard, but then again so was Balfrog...
After that I defeated it first time.
Hell, though, is f ing hard. I don't know how anyone does it. 3 maps of death spikes, falling blocks and 9^99 Butes followed by an ultra hard boss with 4 forms -- and NO SAVE POINTS......AT ALL!?!?!
I mean, dude, seriously? Furthest I've got is halfway through B3.
Yes, I have everything (spur, bubbler, booster 2, whimsical star)

Okay, well, do you have 55 hp?

You need that to have a chance if it's your first time.

You must have
1. the super rocket launcher at MAX
2. the nemisis
3. as much health as possible
4. the secret SRL ammo
5. good reflexes
6. the life pot to restore health
7. patience

Long list, but people have beaten Hell with a mere 3 health.
