If this thread wasn't here, then we'd have DOZENS of threads like these back in the old days. This way when someone wants to be like "wow, that was hard. Sure is an accomplishment" they can post here and we have them all in one spot.

I did read the first post, perhaps you misunderstand my post.
Despite clumping together all the irritating "omg I beet caev starry guise" together, having a thread for it just keeps getting it bumped, which is a pain.
It has no point.

A few days ago I've beaten MonsterX with 3 lifes and 3 weapons for the first time. It was sooo hard T-T

Did you play hard mode, is that why you had 3 lifes? Either way,MonsterX is easily defeated with the Blade 2 or 3.

 

There's no actual difference between playing Hard Mode and simply not picking up the life capsules. I've done a 3 HP run, and I don't even own a Wii.

And Monster X is NOT easy with 3 HP (easier than the Core, though, of course, especially without missiles). Methinks you haven't actually done it.

I havent played Hard mode because uhhh... it's hard. I'm saying if you had the skill to play on Hard mode and get up to that point, it would be easy compared to, let's say, Curly where the residents will be annoying to dodge.

Sorry for the assumption, I'll eventually try Hard mode.

 

so i had an epic run yesterday
beat Misery without taking any damage for the first time
got through Last Cave (Hidden) without taking any damage
but the funnest part was beating Hell on my first try of the night

You're quite right that Curly's very hard with 3 HP, but you can take one hit from a Mimiga without dying (as they only do 2), which helps massively.

All of Monster X's shots do 3 damage, and the hearts don't help you if you're dead. And Monster X can put out a highly impressive volume of fire. Attempting to hit it more than once with the Blade per attack cycle is likely to result in death, so the fight becomes quite long.

Easy compared to the Core, though. The Core with 3 HP is stupidly hard.

 

I've been doing my own hard mode (3HP), minimal weapons (polar star, fireball, blade) run. Just finished the final boss rush (HOLY CRAP THAT WAS HARD). Now on to Hell/Ballos (HOLY CRAP THAT'S GOING TO BE EVEN HARDER).

I found Monster X to be pretty easy, only took me 2 or 3 tries. Curly was actually a bit harder, hahah. The Core was definitely a bastard, took me a couple hours to get past him.

Right now I'm having issues getting through the room with all the falling bricks and angels in hell. They fall so randomly that it's nearly impossible for me to dodge everything if I go slowly. Any advice from the pros?

2 options.

1. Give up.

2. Keep trying until you get lucky with the blocks. As for the Butes, go slowly, so you only trigger a couple at a time, otherwise you will die.

I've gotten through that part, but the couple of times I did I got killed by various things in B3.

Also, practise with the Boss Rush mod until you can kill Heavy Press without damage 100% of the time and have a decent shot at killing Ballos without damage (the fourth form's the real nasty one, as the jump-into-his-eye shortcut will never work with 3 HP).

The "shield" eyes will hit you for 10 when they close up (when his eyes re-open, they move in much closer than they were in the third form). That's why I said it will never work.

I guess you could get on the platforms, then after he transforms, jump down onto the spikes and immediately boost into his eye. Highly risky, though, and I'm not sure the invincibility would last long enough.

 

Okay, been practicing up! Here's my death distribution so far:

Ballos 1: 1 death
Ballos 2: 1
Heavy Press: 6
B1: less than 10 deaths
B3: less than 10 deaths
B2: ...I don't know. At least 200.

The problem with the stupid falling blocks is that they have multiple ways to kill you: they can squish you (obviously), they can block your path and force you to fly into a group of butes, and they can prevent your bullets from killing butes (butes can fly through the bricks; your bullets cannot). As far as I can tell, it's completely dumb luck whether or not you get through B2. However, with practice I can get through it once every 10 or 15 tries. B3 is a cakewalk, I never die there anymore. So it's just a matter of practicing Heavy Press and Ballos. I've seen a video of level 3 Blade raping Ballos' 4th form, so hopefully I can just take him down quickly.
