Just copy the old pxe file from your original Cave Story.

All this is easily fixed. Just re-download Cave Story from the tribute site.

I've done it 2 to 3 times already : /

EDIT: Think I've got it now... But, which *.pxe files am I supposed to copy? I found more than one ;)
