Righto. So there's that 'Rate the favourite weapons thread' a couple of posts down. Only trouble is that Cave Story doesn't... really... have... that many weapons, and it seems to be through most of them already ._. So I thought I'd come out of the blue and blatantly steal the idea make one for the music. 37 tracks total (all of those in the dou_bgm file thingy, plus King's theme 'White') should last a while and open up some interesting opinions... I hope. So yeah, x/10 rating system, decimals allowed, can post more than once, etc. Right. I'll kick us off then:-

Running Hell

 

Running Hell's nice, although my own taste calls for a little more extreme of a track for Hell. 8/10.

Opression, by far the best track in the game.

Oh, and you guys do realise there is nothing saying you can't repeat songs that you like, because someone else could rate it besides the first person.

 

it's great boss fight music. I don't like the buzzy sounds , but within the context of the game it is fine.
I won't rate it, though, on principle.

Let's go with the one just before Oppression...

Geothermal, go!

8.5/10. It sounds good, and it sort of has a "mysterious" feel to it, which seems appropriate for the part of the game it's in (or that I most remember it for, at least).

Moonsong.

 

8.5/10 Moonsong! I'd rate it a 9 but I like Geothermal more Moonsong is a very memorible song from one of the two? outside areas in Cave Story... Furthermore there's a remix of it by DrumUltimA that I like

Moonsong is one of my favorite songs, it's too bad the area is really pretty small... compared to what it deserves

I adore Grasstown, certainly one of the coolest and most original tracks in the game.

I adore Moonsong, Oppression, Running Hell, and Seal Chamber but I love Last Battle the most.

Last Battle provides the intense feel of a boss battle and i think it fits well with the action that is going on.

I like Gestation. In a way it is that tune, rather than the actual theme song, that "represents" CS in my mind.
The remix project version of it is good too.

Awesome fun Makes me feel like I'm cruising along down a river... which is almost like what's happening in game. And with Curly no less! :3 It really adds some fun to constrast the seriousness of the upcoming area, as well as the Labyrinth in general. One of my favourite area tracks... along with half the other tracks in the game >.>

anyway i guess i shall participate... Cemetery gets like a 5/10 in my book... well written and serves it's purpose, but doesn't really work for me outside of the game. Nothing in it that grabs me. But for what it's for in the game, which is an introductory, non-focal theme, it's great.

Lets do another one that I think I don't like. Let's go Plant !

How about Balrog's Theme.

 

Good ol' 8.5 out of ten. Now *this* song sticks out in my mind so much, and represents the lovable little toaster so faithfully. A mixture of slightly silly and deadly serious, hehe. Win.

Hmm... how's about Living Waterway for a change of pace?
