The "angels" in "hell" might be the vengeful souls of whom Ballos killed. Not exactly protecting him, as lashing out, after being freed after being trapped for so long. If Quote hadn't stopped Ballos those guys might have been freed from the island to wreak havoc on the surrounding area...
And if the island was not floating when Jenka originally sealed Ballos... [Which might account for the countless skeletons in his throne room]; or if the island was floating and the castle and people lived on that island [ditto], well "Hell" could be ruins of the king's castle who imprisoned and tortured Ballos, upon which Ballos transformed the land into "Hell".
Just a possibility...

That's what I said once before, the ruins on the balcony were most likely the ruins of the kingdom in question. The question is: what makes the island float? Maybe it's Jenka, while core bound Ballos and his powers. Explains why one as powerful as Jenka is unable to use that power. When Ballos was bringing down the island he was fighting Jenka, Quote and Curly all at the same time. Shows you how powerful Ballos really is.X-Calibar said:
