• Hey everyone happy Christmas Eve we're aware of what's happened with the source code so to keep this simple absolutely don't post it on the site or use it to make mods with (it's not particularly preferable toward this end anyway) and tread lightly in general until we see how this settles, thanks to all and have a great holiday season -DT

Sorry, have too much things to do.
I don't know what to do with background. Background in city is don't showing.
I try to make new city, but that dont work anyway.
If i can do something with that problem, i can start work on this mod harder.
:(
Also if you have an idea what this is, please post it here.

Ballos? I'm pretty sure there was no Ballos in this mod. You sure you're thinking of the right mod?

Ah, classic troubles. :3
(I still haven't played, but I am the forums resident debugger/game breaker. :))

Anyways, your problem is this:

p88991-0-howto.png

First off, open up Thecity map. Then under "File" select properties, as shown.

p88991-1-welltheresyourproblem.png

The selected item is why your background isn't showing - It's set to "4 - Hide".

p88991-2-fixdit.png

Set it to this, then press "Ok", save the map, and then save the game in the main CE window.

That should take care of your problem.
:p

Hmmm...
I poked around for a bit and sadly I got nothing. :/

I checked the usual culprits...
- Parallax wasn't set to Hide
- Background wasn't set to Bg0
- Re-importing the map didn't change it
- Re-saving the background image didn't help

And I got a little creative...
- Resizing the map didn't help
- The Spur lvl. 3 max shot had its damage value at -106 - Changing that didn't help
- Re-ordering the map list, then adjusting the TSC did nothing
- Setting the map to a different parallax didn't help, either
- The transparent colour for images is still black, so it's not being hidden like that

However, the fact that the bug carried over with the map does suggest that it is a problem with the map or tileset itself.

I don't know what to suggest at this point.
Unless you've made some changes to the EXE beyond basic map editing, it should still work normally.
:/
The only thing that *might* help is to check and see if setting all the other map parallaxes to something that isn't hide.
The problem could be an overwrite issue where the map is using the properties of another.

Oh, by the way, if you delete a map in CE (version 0.98d) and recreate it, the background for the recreated map does not show up even if you set everything properly. (possible bug?)

I tried to fix this once using a hex editor, but got nothing.

However, if you recycle a map without deleting it, the background works perfectly, and you should be able to change it as many times as you want.

Guys, i really don't want to make this project abandoned.
Please, i need your help! I need to do something, but anything you saying is don't work! Really, i need your opinion! If you think you know what is this, or you know how to edit this background problem do that on editor or type it here.
I don't want to make project abandoned 'cause damned background don't work!

Like this?

I swear, that "Make new map" feature causes way too much grief.
Anyway, steps I took to basically fix it:
1) pick a map from the original game [I chose Mimiga village] and make it the same size as the one you're going to transfer to it, i.e. 160x28
2) go into the data folder and delete Mimi.tsc, Mimi.pxe and Mimi.pxm
3) rename CitOne.tsc, Citone.pxe and CitOne.pxm to Mimi.tsc, etc.
4) Change the event in the main entrance that takes you to the old map and direct it to the new map, 18.

There are a couple other things that need to be fixed like map name and whatever but that's easy peasy.

Well, I don't want that you give that project up either...

However, theres no sense in working on this project just because other people want you to and
if you don't have anymore fun working on it, you should take a break or give it up.
I've seen this already in bigger communities (mainly RPG-Maker-coms) and people,
who are forcing themselve to work on their games "just to get it done" or "because others want it",
will rush things and the quality of the game will rapidly drop.

If you still have fun in modding, you can plainly forget the previous paragraph and keep working on it.
Your first demo was already quite impressive and I'll be looking forward to see more stuff of you.

I really have fun making it, but i have many problems with making. For now i try to understand how to work with assembly, but don't understand anything. If at least one guy love this mod, i don't give up. (go reading carrotlord's beginner's guide)

Have a question. What of these two facepics should be in game?

I like the new one a lot, especially the hair. The eyes might have some exaggerated shading, but I think it's okay. The mouth and nose should be darker, though.

However, the old picture of the main character did not have many problems. The other old pictures are not so good.

Good to see you're still working on this.
