Problem getting past the undead core.

Snake is easily the best for first time through cause you can kill a lot of enemies through walls without putting yourself in danger

How do I use it?

 

Rename it profile.dat and put it in your cavestory folder.

 

It is in my cave story folder, but it does not work.

 

Well you have to delete the old profile.dat that's why i said rename it so it saves over the old.

You put the profile in a new folder somewhere else.

That does not help....any.

 

profile.dat is where the save is stored, if you ovewrite this with other save without do a copy, you will lose your old save.

You probably overwrited your old save accidentally, if's not on the recycle bin.

Now there's only 2 ways to fix that.

1 - Start a new game.

2 - Download a similar save, here one place to do that.

Looks that you are not used to a pc, but don't worry too much

next time be sure to copy your saves to a safe place before overwrite proflie.dat ok? ;D

 

So let me get this straight, I make a new folder, put the profile you gave me in it, then play the game. Hmm cause that is what I did and it did not work.

EDit/ and no I do not want to start the game all over again.

 

1º Go to you Cave Story directory
2º there is a file with the name "Profile.dat", this is the save you have inside the game, if you don't want to lose it, make a copy first to any other place that you see fit.
3º Rename Jacob's save (the one with 7w. in hell) to "Profile.dat", that way the game will read it.
3º Copy Jacob's save into Cave Story directory and overwrite the one that's there.
4º Start the game and have fun in hell

Ok it still does not work. So I take the one Jacob gave me, rename it, profile.dat. Then I, Overwrite? the one that is already there. Am I going to have to start the game over with.

 

You extracted the file first right? Because thats kind of important

JUST DELETE YOU OLD FUCKING SAVE, PUT THE 7 WEAPONS SAVE IN THE FOLDER THE .EXE IS IN, RENAME IT MOTHERFUCKING PROFILE.DAT AND FUCKING PLAY IT!!! God-DAMN it!!!

1. Back up your current ("old") profile.dat (rename it or move it into another folder)
2. Extract the "new" save into the same folder as doukutsu.exe
3. Rename the "new" save to "profile.dat"
4. Run cave story and load your game

How is this hard?

And no, you won't have to start again. When you load your game it will be in the prefab building, before hell, with 7 weapons.

Profile.dat is your save file. What you are doing is replacing your old save with a different save. Jacob is just frustrated because you failed to follow simple instructions on the simple procedure of how to "replace a file while backing up the original" for the last 1½ pages.

Rename 7w EXACTLY "Profile.dat"

Then, delete the FIRST Profile.dat.

Move the other Profile.dat into the Cave Story folder.
