A lot more blocky and true to the original.. Adding more detail like the lines on his face kinda ruined it.. You just basically 2xres'd the original sprite, Not adding anything.

I didn't like the sprite all that much either. They were good, but didn't look any bit rugged like the originals did. They looked rather cartoonish.

 

I like it. Traditional is better.

It's not completely the same - but that's a good thing. You managed to add in the hair, which is not apparent in the 1x res quote. Still, it's different enough from the Wiiware Quote that it stays unique.

Hm... I wonder if it would be possible to get the 2x resolution hack without suffering from copy right issues if it would be to make the original game all over again, but with original assets. One thing I wanted to do was redeasign things to make them look like the 3ds version when it comes out. An excuse to sprite really. I know if I did I would steal this quote sprite.

Sadness. 8-bit then. There's a lot of restrictions on that hack, not that they surprise me at all.

 

I've been making boss sprites myself, but i find it very difficult to make enemy sized sprites for some reason. Theres barely any room for me to make something. I'm way behind on enemy edits because of it.

perhaps because it makes everything seem superunsaturated?

I like the concept, but I'd go with darker shades of red, so it doesn't look washed out/faded

 

I kind of dig the faded look myself, but is this better?

I sometimes end up doing shadesofx when I can't decide on what the final colour should be. I had an idea now though
