New screenshots of Cave Story 3D

looking back some of the backgrounds actually look pretty neat, and the light pilfering in is also a nice touch, but damn I wish they kept true to the original tilesets, and get a set of people to make proper textures for the game.

There appears to be a contradiction here:

But here on the art it says:

I don't know what your problem is with the graphics. Are you expecting some kind of AAA release that had 10 people designing the graphics? It looks great for an indie game. They took a little a long way, just like Pixel did. Each place has a unique look and the details like hanging chains are great stuff that the original could just never do.
You all need to stop expecting it to look like the PC or Wii version. When you go from 2D to 3D, things need to be changed (Team Sonic taught us all valuable lessons). I absolutely love how they changed the atmosphere of the whole game, because releasing the same damn game three times is Bungie's job.

I would say it is better as a contiguous piece than the trad. balrog's theme, but also that it would not fit at all ingame.

it wouldnt fit ingame in my opinion.. like lace said.
but hear this - this remix is one of the bests if not the best out there. the reason is the beat falling on 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 3. it makes it sound much more interesting than anything else that was made... makes you want to listen to it in a loop. its great!

I'm really disapointed in that. They reused the old status bars, and the resolution isn't as good as imagined.

This complaint I don't understand.

Remember that this is for the 3DS, so the graphics are limited in how detailed they can be, since the 3DS uses a resolution that is just slightly higher than the original Cave Story (400x240 vs 320x240).

I do find it a bit odd that they resused the old status bars. If they're going to remake it completely, why not redo those to match the style?

so that could come up in color and everything.
there sure is something to be looking for but.. dont get your hopes all up

 

The image compression has gotta be quite bad for the game to look good on the 3DS.

They are all likely to be in-development screens. Take 'em with a grain of salt.

 

I hoped, that wii version of Cave Story music was the worst thing Nicalis can ever done with Cave Story. Now I even don't recognize old damn levels! And you know what can be even more bad than this level design?

Yes. Uwe Boll is definitely making a Cave Story movie.
That's definitely something that is real and happening.

If you don't want anything about the game to change, just play the damn PC version and quit complaining about things that are necessary for the new format.

It's not like they're taking away the PC version and replacing it with this. This is just a little something more for those who want it (and are willing to pay).

 

NIS America has announced that Cave Story 3D will be available on August 9 for $39.99.
