• Hey everyone happy Christmas Eve we're aware of what's happened with the source code so to keep this simple absolutely don't post it on the site or use it to make mods with (it's not particularly preferable toward this end anyway) and tread lightly in general until we see how this settles, thanks to all and have a great holiday season -DT

LOCAL MAN UNABLE TO BEAT WIND FORTRESS
Other Residents Point And Laugh
This evening at 8:45 EST, SirTopHat, a well-known member of the Cave Story Tribute Site modding community, made a thread in the Cave Story General Discussion forum venting his frustration at a specific challenge in Cave Story+. Wind Fortress has been said to be the most challenging part of the newst PC installment of Cave Story, and its unrelenting brutality had taken its toll on SirTopHat.
When other members pressed for more information, he said, "I'm too used to modern games, where you can save anywhere, so you don't repeat areas you can do and only repeat the area giving you trouble," referring to pussy-ass games like I Wanna Be The Guy, which has checkpoints on most difficulty settings.
Another well-known member of the community, GEARakaCHEEZER, responded to the original post by saying that it's all SirTopHat's fault, and that the game took five years to make so he shouldn't expect an easy ride. We have consulted with experts and produced the following data:
-Hating the game is perfectly reasonable if it's poorly designed
-Development time has absolutely nothing to do with difficulty.
-Cave Story is a succubus and you know it, that's pretty hot
-Navigable (n): 1. (of a waterway or sea) Able to be sailed on by ships or boats.
-2. (of a track or road) Suitable for transportation; passable.
This data has been submitted to a scholarly journal for peer review.
Noxid, Our Glorious Leader, informed GEAR that "Not everyone wastes as much time playing video games as you do" and "You definitely resemble a furry with bleeding eyes right now." The general consensus seems to be that GEAR is a dumpass who should maybe get off his high horse and not make fun of people who are frustrated at a game, because those people might punch him in his goddamn face if he said that to them in person.◘

I'm not gonna lie, I only made the "Shout it out" image I made because noxid already had his reply image made and wanted to post it.

Also, poorly designed? I think not.

I had a hard time with that battle for a while... I thought you had to kill ALL the curlies, and I didn't even know about that trick at that point. ..... I was really impressed how tough it was...

Woah I missed this line.

You obviously haven't seen the nemesis challenge, that level just gets mean near the end.

You'd think that this would be the kind of exploit usually discovered during beta testing

I reported it during beta testing yes D:

I haven't checked to see if it was fixed... but, from sirtophat's response I guess it wasn't? ;)

I'm pretty sure the response to that bug report was that the block was put there because Pixel thought the fight was too hard.

I guess it was, and now it's not. The man knows his game design, even if he did overcompensate a tad.

My guess would be that Occam's Razor is correct in this instance.

edit: well, it would've been more convincing if you'd actually quoted gir's post...

Correct.

I guess Hell was too easy for him or he never won his own game.
