I downloaded the 1.9 pre-release software, and the server seems to be working normally again. Come on back. There are three things you should know first, however:
1. I have reduced the seeing distance from 15 to 10 to make the server less laggy.
2. Don't try to find the mainland. It's a long way off and I'm not telling you which direction.
3. Dig directly under the tree for a surprise.

It's close enough. Also, it's the only non-rotten/non-scaly food source available.

Edit: Map is (almost) done. Unfortunately, Fab's server is down and I can't get the full, finished version of the map.

Luckily...

I have a picture of the map that is mostly done except for a small chunk of space. To my memory, that empty space is probably just more water.

Light Blue Circle-My house
Black Arrow-Cave Story's house
White Arrow-BurnedKirby's House
Dark Green Circle-Large, tall island
Light Green Circle- Island with a mini-hole in it
Turquoise Bracket-Mainland
Yellow Circle- Approximate location of the NPC village

I know that I'm missing Fab's House. I'm pretty sure it's in the mainland, but I haven't seen it yet.

Lastly, there is this strange area in between the spawn island and the island slightly southwest. Take a look at it if you want to.

Today noxid locked me very far underneath the surface.
To get out I will have to lose the beautiful roses safu gave me.
I don't think I can make that sacrifice.

I'm getting a Connection Refused: Connect. Is the server still up? Also, it takes me around ten minutes spam-retrying to connect to the server now (and I can average almost 100 retries a minute).
Edit: I can connect perfectly fine now.
Edit Edit: My game froze. I could look around, but I could no move. When I reconnected, I dies instantly. I was on a boat, completing my map. I was also planning on creating a new castle, but now everything is on the bottom of an ocean, and I can't even find them because my map is also down there. I think I'm going to take a break from Minecraft for awhile.

Edit: Hardcore mode locks difficulty at hard, and you only get one life. That seems pretty cool.

I'm running the first 1.9 pre-release right now. As soon as I get home I'll update it to the second pre-release. If you haven't downloaded anything from the super-secret links that Notch and Jeb tweeted, then you're still on 1.8.1.
EDIT: The server's on pre-release 2 now. You will get five diamonds for every new music disc you bring in.
