Yeah, there is of course some bias with the surveys. It's pretty much impossible not to have some kind of bias.. If you narrow your focus and call it a survey of english-speaking furries then it's technically more accurate. But this all gets into the ridiculousness of statistics in general and how easy it is to fudge them, accidentally or on purpose.

There are threw kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and everything Sarah Palin say in a positive way about herself.
And most statistics. I need to do a survey on that though.

Oh please god let there be no Sarah Palin supporters here

Well, what about Pixel and his thing about talking cats (Ame, black cat), does that make him subject to this classification?

And to answer your question, I think plushophile is more along the lines of being attracted to stuffed animals (plushies) like such

It's cute, but I'm not going to fall in love with it.

Ah, I've found some previous ones.
This site has a page featuring its own survey, as well as several links to previous/other surveys. Some interesting findings; The surveys seem to indicate a predominantly male population (70-85% or something?). The primary survey isn't really comprehensive but some of the ones under Other Studies (example, "Ultimate Furry Survey") go further in-depth. The "State of the Fandom" link is a pretty good article, and it's been written interestingly enough to be readable.

Survey was interesting, but like we've been saying, pretty flawed.
Like many of the questions were almost completely dependent on age, like profession, amount of time involved, etc.

There should have been more general questions that didn't apply to age or region, like music preference, general lifestyle questions, etc.

I'm not gonna have sex it with it either. Idk, to me it seems like... a toy?

Well I don't think we said you had to. Some people would though, apparently.
This reminded me of Erika Eiffel. I'm not saying plushophile would be linked with Object sexuality though.

Also, the surveys and statistics and everything got me to wondering, what's the sort of distribution on the Yakkers scale? I'm not looking for a comprehensive answer but just like a guesstimate on the percentages of each type. Obviously it'd be kind of difficult to guess how many type 1 there are since they don't typically show it.

Would be interesting, it's too bad it could never really be organized.
My guess would be that ones and fives would be the majority.

I am very, very surprised zangoose didn't appear on the Pokemon list..
This stuff is really interesting. I wasn't able to read all of the new posts in the thread, but this link makes it easy. I hope to see more of this stuff...

Thanks yakkers, this is exactly what we are looking for.
The only downside is the lack of under 18s, which seem to make up most of any furry communities that I've heard of.

Trudat, Cult.
Also: getting results from 4chan is a great idea.
Also x2: 4:21 ratio of women to men. That's worse than what we predicted.

Just going to keep editing this post until someone makes another post:
"24.9% of furries agreed that they did feel less than 100% human"
Oh... oh god... this must be a misrepresentation of data. These otherkin guys must be more likely to take the survey. Yeah. That's why.

This is definitely the best survey yet. There is so much information to go through though..

According to the top of the survey, it was approx. 4800/7000 participants that were 18 or over, so approximately 31% of the respondents were minors, which seems like a bunch to me

I noticed that some of the survey's type 1 furries, i.e. humans that feel human, said they felt like another species trapped in a human's body.
ಠ_ಠ
And 35% of furries feel that they resemble their species of animal.
ಠ_ಠ

And, last comment: wolf is the most popular species. Nailed it.

So do you think transexuals are ಠ_ಠ too?
Because generally that's the same sort of thing. A guy who feels like they were born into a girl's body, or a girl who feel's like they were born into a guys body.

No, type 1 feels completely human and does not wish to be non-human. 100% human. Yep, human, human, human. Just look ay my neck!

...Invader Zim quotes aside, I was talking about conflicting data. The graph of Q9b(i) (average rating of feeling like another species trapped in a human body) says that type 1 furries, on a scale of 1-7, had an average of 1.4. That means some furries who feel 100% human feel less than 100% human.

What if they are more than 100%?
100% human but also 18% tabby

From my interpretation, it doesn't necessarily have to make sense for them to believe it.

The wording the survey used was "completely human."
I blame 4chan.
