I know for a fact it's hard to make a movie or story directly about a game. Games run much differently than other types of stories. For example I used to have these choose your own adventure books that followed zelda games and they were quite awful, they just explained the game elements textually.

I'm sure it could work however, if the game elements were drastically altered or if it was done really well.

I actually remember reading one of those books.

I thought they were okay actually.

Cave Story would be boring as an animation of any kind, unless you heavily alter the events (Like Atravir did, only good instead). However, a Cave Story musical might work...

A Cave Story Musical? What the hell?

That actually sounds like a good idea for some strange reason.

I suppose enjoyed them because I liked the games, but now that I think back they were pretty awful. Stuff like "Link found a room full of bats. He killed all the bats and pushed a block, opening a door." Meh.

Musical adaptions always work if all else appears to fail.

Well just by hearing that, I can tell that it's the original legend of zelda.

I read the one that was about super mario bros 2. All I can remember is that luigi mistimed his jump and died.

oh, and I got to the end too.

Wouldn't there be very little singing though?

The music is all done by gun shots, or the guns kill enemies with music and the enemies sing about dying and this is making me laugh too hard.

Can... well of course its easy for people to imagine but...

We can all imagine what quote would look like if he was in 3-D...

and maybe if the 3-D model was in gmod or something like that.

I don't think 3D and Cave Story would go together very well. But of course I said that about Mega Man and then Mega Man Legends came along.

I've seen people try to model Quote and some others and it never turns out in a way I would ever like to see.

imo if CS + 3d went togethor, quote and curly would both have to be tall skinny teenagers, and it would become a more mature, more serious game.

so idk

The game's not set up to be a really mature game, but it's too mature to be a kiddy game. Find a style that represents that.

Actually, that's pretty close to what I was thinking if not better.
