Cave Story Remix Project 2

Feel free to yell at me for not reading through all 25 pages of this but what programs/etc are you guys using to make these, as a matter of interest? I might THINK of contributing something here but I have very little idea how to actually make a proper song. I guess if worst comes to worst I can just send an .org to someone and have them make it 'properly' for me but w/e.

@DT: I use my digital piano (Yamaha Clavinova CVP-303 to be exact) and then transfer from it to a CD and then rip from the CD in Windows Media Player (I can't go directly from digital piano to computer).

FrozenFire, if you like music with good distorted metal...umm...listen to lots of kinds of metal? If you want video game metal, try Year 200X, The Black Mages, Stage 3-1, Powerglove and other similar bands XD

Thanks rtnario. I'll have to check on those bands later. And yes, I listen to lots of kinds of metal. The reason I like metal is really because of the drive and the guitars. I'm not REALLY in to "death screaming" though. It really depends.

Also FrozenFire, it's a big challenge. The source material is basically one melody that repeats itself all throughout with one variation. So what the remix should be is more like an original composition of yours based on that simple melody. You're gonna have to add more to the song than Pixel ever did! :eek: According to what you have so far though, it's obvious you're fully capable of it, so we'll be waiting for the (awesome) final product.

Yep. I have been experimenting with adding in some distorted guitar. I also added a robotic kind of voice that says "access" chopped and stuttered with some echo (used in a transition) and I must say that things are shaping up. Still lots of work to do and I really need to be working on my final papers, lol!

I use FL Studio for almost everything. I'm also using Guitar Pro 5 (it uses RSE) for some guitar parts that no one has heard yet. Every once in a while I will use Audacity for editing samples and to do minor tweaks on the final mp3.

Nonono!! I like it xD!! I', just saying that one of the instruments reminds me of a toaster (Balrog) being very clumsy.

Um.. Sorry for double post. But I thought it would be funny to tell how all of a sudden I had inspiration for a Remix.

Unfortunately its for Last battle which already had around 2-3 submissions. Unless I made it into a various like Wedge of Cheese did....

Well, my Access remix is going slowly but surely. I think I'll wait until it's done to post it though, instead of posting another WIP.
I'm basically taking techno and hard rock and mixing them together for goodness.
It is leaning more toward techno though; hard to explain.

Just listened to it a few times.
The samples are not my favorite. However, I do like the dingy thing it starts out with and I also like the build/arrangement. Nice start.

 

Well I guess Ill give a heads up.

I am doing a remix containing the two songs; Last Battle and Gravity. And let me say. I'm quiet excited. So far the song is 3:36 and Gravity is only moments in and has a total of-

33 Instruments/Automation's/Audio-clips (all together not separate)

29 patterns

130 bars (which is 3 minutes and 36 seconds as mentioned above)

Plus every trick Ive learned being used in this. (as oppose where i might use 1 or 2 tricks)

Like I said, I'm excited. This may be the best remix I have ever done. I'm shaking with excitement. xD I just hope that it turns out its not as good as I think it is. :| Sorry for the possibly unneeded, long post.

Well, I gotta say, I'm looking forward to the finished version.

You did lose the bells at the end though, which were a nice touch at the beginning, but kinda lost it at the end, but then, that, I dunno what was, but, whatever you did at the end was pure win.

Nice start! Like people before me I do love the ding-ey bell thing But like FrozenFire said, you could use better samples/instruments/presets...to be specific the lead melody line/s that start at 00:18.5 and the percussion. I think that the main instrument lacks some presence and the percussion could use a driving kick of sorts.

Other than that, leave it everything be since it's great
