I'm tempted to get this, given this time they've actually made a substantial change to the original game, unlike the Wii version. I am however, very discouraged by the possibility that I won't be able to switch to the original music, forcing me to listen to the bloody Wii remixes. And don't even get me started on the Nicalis translation... On top of that, Cave Story 3D alone wont convince me to buy a 3DS.
If had gotten the Wii Version, I would have only played with original music and graphics. I would be being too kind to describe the new music as any less than terrible and the updated graphics, though nice just lose much of the charm that the original graphics had. So if I bought the Wii version, I'd be left with the original game with an inferior translation.
I sincerely hope that Nicalis pull their shit together and improve their translation to put it simply.

@Dave: They're getting someone new to rearrange all the pieces again. I haven't heard anything about the option to use the original music though.

I assume you mean improve the translation for the 3DS version? Nicalis isn't working on Cave Story 3DS, Nippon Ichi Software is. They're the guys who made the Disgaea series.

Hmm...I'm not so sure who is actually working on the development.
My point still stands about the translation though. I don't know the Wiiware translation was genuinely bad or if it was just too different to the Aeon Genesis translation that most of us are used to.

It isn't being done by Nicalis though (by Nippon Ichi Software), so that's a good sign already.

I concur, I'm not too worried. So far I'm fine with what's been released, I'm sure NIS will do fine.
