Doesn't help that i'm busy with another big drawing... So i'm just going to have to buy a new one, but i can only find them on the internet for outrageous prices. Blah.

Have you tried looking in electronics stores like Best Buy or Radioshack, or maybe an art supply store perhaps(I too have a drawing tablet, but I hardly ever use it . But when I do, I take care of it like it's my baby)?

As I progress with 3D modeling, every once in a while I will take what I've got, screenshot it, and put an effect or two on it to make it look even better. So, yep, this is a 3D model, but I used a sort of contrasting type tool on it and lowered the amount of colors and I got this result:

What programs do you use?

I use "Model Creator v5.0", which is a modeling program designed to make models for use in Game Maker, and it can also export as .obj. It's a very simplistic modeling program. In addition to that, I used Paint.NET for making the textures that get put onto the model. It doesn't look quite like a 3D model because I used a heavy sharpen effect that ended up doing cool things to the edges, but you can still see the how the edges really are pretty jagged in places. After the sharpening, I also did some color corrections and contrast stuff and ended up with that.

I achieved this effect in a way that would not work in a Game Maker game AS OF NOW, but Game Maker Studio is going to get shaders in the next update, and with those I can achieve this look in realtime. But, until the update, I can only do this kind of thing by using post effects. I'm going to try my best to stick close to this sort of art style, because I really like it, and hopefully I can get it looking more professional (so expect any future Cave Story graphics/games from me to look close to this style).

 

FrozenFire, that looks pretty good. I remember doing some 3D modeling stuff with Blender, but I lost interest after a while. I should post the only model I did sometime.

Thank you, and its actually REALLY big (probably half my size.) but i used the horrible "attach file" feature on here so its pretty small now...
