  • c++ is pretty ridiculously low-level though...
oops, forgot to mention two things, but they're less major --
    - I hate the ridiculously rigid structure of python, don't want that -- loosey goosy, baby
    - I'll probably include most of cs's built in functions, because they useful.
    - arrays. I love arrays.
variables, obviously, user input, outputting things to the screen, arithmetic, all applicable assembly yums, such as pointers and jmps, being able to directly access the stack, and probably most importantly, speed and efficiency.
let's say compile straight to exe, but in all practicality, I would probably compile into c, c++ first.
    sweet.
so, you prolly hate me by now for all dis spam, but how would I go about creating a programming language, and what functions are necessary for a good programming language?
thank you very muchso, I need a little something to do on the craggy ol' day of mine.
speaking of which, I found an idea for a cs remix I had a while back.

    plantation song
    notes longer, more discordant.
groups of four notes are placed farther apart and are made lower.
bit of geothermalleefbalcony/whatever seems appropriate mixed in

ie, start w/ normal, add bits of leef in as they fit, then make the song more discordant and add bits of balcony in as they fit, and finally make it colder and darker, adding bits of geothermal in.
if you have as much free time as you claim, you could try a plantation remix, obviously not this idea, but it's one of the songs we missed.

actually, as far as that idiocy goes, MoonsongxLastCave?
    mmmmm?
mauling the exe so resource hacker wuvs it.
also, what is one thing ingame that screams cave story more than anything else?
yoo -- sp doesn't want to hand out the source code(maybe), but he will do the thingy if I can help him a bit with it.
I would need some help setting up Direct X and some help with executable sections/hacking.
as you are a much better person than I when it comes to c/c++, I was in turn going to ask you for some help in these things. :D
In particular, how does CE manage this? it's open source, but it BIG open source.

I don't even know why you're helping me with this -- you're using ce now, and it already has the utilities I want in sw.
well yeah, obviously, too bad I don't even know prof*, he was way before my time, made eight posts, and left. geez. also, that hurt my eyes muchissimo.

*however, I have contacted shining, and since he was on earlier today, I might get looky.
sure, it'll prolly be fairly incomprehensible though, as the three ways I can get the source are from espee, prof, or decompiling it, in which case the variables will either be german or systematically assigned.
    :O
I'm not sure what you mean about clicking to me, so I'll just take your word for it...
psh, surely you've heard of the wikipedia game or ten clicks to jesus?
same thing, but I was eating cheddeddar cheese as a snack, and it inspired me.
    ...
    NOT a creeper.

also, you really don't have to do this if you don't wanna, I understand you've recently devoted yourself to the strangely purple ways of ce, but whatever.
    so.....
I just played this game called ten clicks to cheese, and got to you in 6.
    I win.

    ....

In other news, what are the chances of you being able/having the motivation to make sues handle data like CE does? I could prolly 'acquire' the sw source, but yeah.
It would make me sooo happy.

finally being able to agree with third parties!
    ^_^
    oh gawds.
    help me...

your npc editor is being evil.

    ...

I'm trying to edit the collision rects, of mah npc, so I set x1 to 0, y1 to 0, x2 to 20, and y2 to 80, thinking this will work.

    but noooooooooooooo.

well, the y does, but not the x.
it acts as twice as big as it should be, sticking out the left side of my entity, so I changed x1 to 10.

    which made it bigger.
    >_>

then I changed x2 to ten, and put x1 back to 0. It worked on the left side, but the right suide was too small by several pixels.

    what did I do?

    O.o
Hrm, do you know the offsets for the Y and X position of the 'Quote' in the title screen for New and Continue?
In the this thread, Lace said it was
    :
    4102E5 ; y of start arrow
    4102F1 ; y of continue arrow
    {X would be the next push after each}
But I didn't see anything like a push at either of those offsets with Olly...
    Am I reading the offsets funny or something? {Found and was able to change other parts of the title screen fine, though}
Hmm... that's a good question. I don't really remember my first visit here that well, but I'll try to piece together the clues.
Well, I must have stumbled onto CS sometime before christmas 2008 because that's when I got WoW, which kept me from starting my mod until late August of 09' when I ran out of subscription.

I would have browsed the forums a bit when I first found out, but then of course when the cocaine of video games grabs you not much else matters.
