Where the heck am I supposed to start with modding? I need the stuff straight forward... I am not much of a fan of questioning every movement. I just want to learn and get over with it.
If there is not possible way to get custom backgrounds I am going to see if I can use world tiles.
Heyo I am working on a re texturing project/ fan remastering for CaveStory while using the same quality Sprites, but using the color palette to its max potential. The Favor I came here to ask about is if it is possible... Can you hack Cavestorys background for more variants that will allow me to create a more diverse background similar to Cavestory 3D? But Instead this time it is a full piece of pixel art that sticks to the level ? If not, a non moving singular background per level could work too.

well you're going to run into some big problems along the way: first of all the game doesn't like images bigger than 256X256 for tilesets and 320X240 for most other images except for 2, bullet.bmp that can go infinitely downwards, and caret.bmp that can go infinitely sideways, so a huge canvas for an entire map bigger than the screen size is not possible with conventional methods

Technically Clownacy made a .dll loader that accepts infinite resolutions where it's all post process to double/triple/quadruple the image size after the game decides what it's doing with it.

if or not this can be hijacked for a lower resolution but more sprite area though, I don't actually know. After all this game was made in 2005 and the graphics processing ability isn't exactly stellar or made to handle anything more than fairly small bitmap files.

Clownacy and Thomas Xin can give more insight on this issue than I can, but with what knowledge I can loan you I'd say it's highly unlikely that you would find a practical workaround other than just having the plain old 2/3/4Xres increase in clownacy's .dll pack.

Oh boy XD
In my game there are two parts where it gets REALLY hard
1.) One puzzle at the beginning is really hard unless you look at the guide I'm making
2.) A boss fight or two is also pretty hard

Do you have any ideas on how I would put an "easy mode" in it?
I'm not sure if everyone would look at the guide...
One idea was:
Select easy/hard mode at the beginning. COMPLETELY Different puzzle at the hard puzzle parts. ALSO life capsules might give a little more life (using flags and stuff to sense), and hard boss fights will either have some spikes removed or weapons will be better before that

Do you think that's a good idea? I just don't want people to get discouraged from playing because some parts are too hard to beat.
Or the second idea was to say:
"If you're having trouble download that Ultimate Doukutsu Trainer and skip parts"

Also the story line continues from the original cave story, so should I ask at the beginning if you haven't played if you want a summary of it?

if your mod is too hard for you then it's way too hard for anyone else
and you can pretty much assume anyone playing mods knows the story of cave story.

Ok, I won't include a summary then.
Things like the puzzle aren't hard for me but since I make them I'm not sure if others will figure out what certain things mean.

I don't consider myself any amazing player at this game, but I think I'm decent. I just want to make sure people who aren't as good still have some sort of chance at winning
Better change that role to Absol enthusiast ;)

Seems like it won't be an issue any more given this Halloween Eevee I found.
Going to take a in depth look at rules.

It really depends on how much time there is between the new post and your previous post. If you are using your new post to amend your old one, or are doing so in quick succession then you are doing it wrong.

Please understand that the rules exist as guidelines, not some "to the letter" legal document, and it all comes down to the judgment of mods and admins as to what is or isn't accepted.

I mean if you look at this profile post comment chain you posted 8 times with 1 minute between each. Never ever do that when posting in a thread. This isn't Discord, IRC, or Skype. There is no rush. Think about what you want to write and write it. If you want to amend a post then edit it.

I can tell that you are wired for IM, but forums are a different beast altogether. You have all the time in the world.

Understandable, I will be sure not to make the same mistake in the future
wait i think i figured out how to edit it did i? I'm currently working on a game but it may take me a few months to finish. I wanna have a good story line and stuffs its a lot more complicated then my previous ones. Maybe I'll share my other ones sometime too?

its a game about quote after the normal cave story
my other two ones were related to each other, but not to cave story (or the storyline of it at least)
they were ok and fun to play but I'm trying to make this one really good

I've been working on it for a while now i think theres like an hour of gameplay in it so far, maybe a tiny bit less

thanks i hope yall enjoy it once im finished and can find out how to upload it
i'm trying to make it decent in length too, so many you won't be able to beat it in 1 day

and about 4 endings (1 is a bad one which is easily changed)
wait i think i figured out how to edit it did i? I'm currently working on a game but it may take me a few months to finish. I wanna have a good story line and stuffs i keep editing these things but it makes a new post
was there ever a mod called curlys story or curlys adventure i remember playing it a long time ago but i can't find it again
and it wasn't just normal cave story but with curly as the player, it was an entirely new and pretty professional looking game

all i remember is there were years and the house changes as years go on
also i remember that you start in the sand zone, and then go to some "ancient cave"
