I said this before in a different thread, but I think that Balrog is the last, or at least one of the last, of a species native to the island, and he most likely barganed with misery or the current wearer of the crown for his life, and was forced into survice of the crown wearer. Pooh black is most likely a ghost of one (or posibly many) of these. (if you think that's not the right answer, then I'd like to see you come up with a decent explanation for pooh black)

Actually when you add a possessive to a word ending in s, you only add the apostrophe for possessive and drop the extra s.

The possessive is Ballos' (note the apostrophe), not Ballos's.
