If you have a console (I'll include the computer here as well), you probably have music on your hard drive. You may also find it relaxing to play some of your own music whilst playing certain games.

So what music do you use for which game? Caramelldansen on Halo 3? Backstreet Boys on GTA4? Eminem while playing Lego Star Wars?

I'd like to see what you guys do.

I personally like listening to the Halo: Combat Evolved soundtrack playing Starcraft.

Nothing D:

Just the game's music if there is any. I used to listen to JAM project and some other crap when I was little (13 and younger). But now I lost the passion in my heart.

Last I recall I listened to Dane Cook back in '06 while playing Shadow the Hedgehog.

If there's in game sounds I usually listen to them, as sometimes the sound can hint at where enemies are or if something you can't see is about to come your way.

Other than that, I listen to Metallica. Always.

I never ever ever listen to anything but the game's in-game music (except for certain PC games with no or crappy music i.e. free korean mmos that aren't ragnarok online)

I really REALLY HATE IT sometimes when people listen to "real music" over game music, especially older-gen game music, because "it's automatically shitty when it's old". I had to get on to my step brother really bad for trying to play shit over Secret of Mana when we were playing it a couple years ago, that game has some of the best music ever, I don't care if you're not nerdy enough to appreciate it >:(((((

Metal over FPSs with no music of their own.
Otherwise I generally respect the game's own music.

I usually listen to the game's music, but if it has no music, I usually just chill with just the sound effects of the game.

i cant resist overriding everything with CS musics or remixes thereof.

... this is perfectly fine because i play MMO's that have no music (worth listening to) of their own.

Usually i listen to the game audio. But when i play smash brothers brawl i always play my own playlist. The actual game music system is basically a cocktail of retro music with remixes and stuff, so i just have my own personalised videogame music in the background.

As for any other games, i almost always listen to the game audio.

Usually the games audio, but if you don't hear it often like in minecraft, then I just flip on the radio.

Game music is all I listen to, so uhh..yeah.

But if it's something like Terraria or Minecraft, I'll put on mah own tunes...which is music from other game for the most part.

I listen to game music... From other games. My current mix is mostly Cave Story, Sonic the Hedgehog (Project Chaos remix), Castlevania, and Super Meatboy tunes. I was thinking of adding some Megaman...

Game music only...btw. @ competitive FPS best thing is to turn the music off while leaving sound on and listen carefully in order to predict where the opponent is.

Often I have all audio off due to circumstances, but when I can I listen to the game's audio. Audio cues are just as important as visual ones, and a good soundtrack can contribute greatly to the atmosphere.

i only ever listen to music when I'm playing Minecraft creative mode. Otherwise, audio cues are too important.
