Yeah.. I sorta listen to the game's music, or, more often, simply glower in the silence.

I'm playing Skyrim now, so it's far from boring.
Why would I listen to my own music? The composers put in significant effort into the music, the least you could do is experience it.

When the game music starts looping infinitum ad boredum, I crank up my cellphone's MP3 list.
But there's a LOT of stuff at it, mostly japanese songs and even other game's BGMs.

So I'll just link some examples.

Depending on the type of game, I have a knack of wanting to upgrade or add to the music when possible.

Usually I'll start with the original music; but if it's a favorite game ... say Ys, or The Way ... I'll go out of my way to find or make a new version for the songs.

Morrowind for instance, I sought out more of Jeremy Soule's music and found which ones I thought fit in with the original soundtrack and added it to the in-game playlist :

i cant resist overriding everything with CS musics or remixes thereof.

... this is perfectly fine because i play MMO's that have no music (worth listening to) of their own.

Runescape has good music

I always listen to the game as it was intended.

I listen to the game music unless i've heard it a million times already or it is actually bad.

Seconded. Why would you wreck a game's immersion like that? Composers spent hours and hours of hard work to make sure their song fits in the game and creates a mood, there's no bigger middle finger I can think of than to disregard their accomplishments with other music, especially from another game.

EDIT: rewind 6 posts and looky thar, I haven't changed much in 17 days.
Weird.
