Well for 1. No one can go to his page anymore, so yes. But its still a mystery "why" he would do this?!

 

Give it a month or two for the joke to end.

The effort was great on the Moderator's part, but there's several flaws in the execution and it's rather obvious for those who know Hayden and how these occurrences actually work.

I've talked to him, and he has no regret doing it. I wonder why he do something that criminal like as far as a virus. I'm hoping this virus doesn't cause any problems to my computer, even after it got cleaned. Anyone else have any other problems from it, besides the computer crashing?

And by April fools, I mean: APRIL FOOLS!

For those of you who haven't figured it out already, that virus was fake. As was my ban and GIR's edit. At least, at first. That message you see that appears to have been put in the OP by GIR has actually always been there. I put it there when I first posted this thread. There was never a download link to anything. And in my initial revision, I also made a fake edit watermark that almost perfectly mimicked the real one, except that it doesn't adapt to different timezones and its icon is vertically one pixel off relative to its adjacent text. I then removed my avatar and changed my user title to "Banned." I then logged out and watched the fireworks.

My main motive for doing this was to see how convincingly it would trick you guys into thinking I was really banned, as well as see how GIR would react to having words put into his mouth. While I won't say this whole thing went south, it sure did take an unexpected turn when GIR came online to see this thread and decided to play along by editing my post for real (removing my fake watermark so that a real one would appear), and then banning me for real, as well as acting like he had actually downloaded the mod and it screwed up his computer. My original plan was to admit the whole thing was fake by the end of the day, but apparently GIR had other plans.

Anyway, I think it would be accurate to say that this is one of those rare pranks where the joke is on everyone. I hoodwinked you guys by tricking you into thinking I posted a virus and got banned, while the joke was also on GIR by putting words into his mouth. And then GIR hoodwinked you guys by swallowing the words I put into his mouth and tricking you into thinking I actually screwed up his computer and also hoodwinked me by unexpectedly banning me for what's now been five days.

Happy hoodwink day everybody, we all got hoodwinked.

 

Haha, nice. I was pretty sure it was fake when I remembered that moderators don't play mods anymore. If a virus really did cause a computer to not restart, how would it be possible to open up System Restore? It was an amusing trick, and if you just want the satisfaction of thinking you tricked everyone, I can give you that I guess.

Of course, this could also be the April Fool's joke and you are actually banned, but I am 101% done with pranks for the year.

It was an amusing trick, and if you just want the satisfaction of thinking you tricked everyone, I can give you that I guess.

Computers don't need to be able to boot properly to access system restore, I would know because I've used it once or twice when my computer shat itself.
