it's quite a bit better; lunarsold took some artistic liberties that were pretty horrible imo. :s

anyway, it'd be pretty hard to do a category of "best mod" because there have been very few that have updated this year and they are all outshone by cs redesign.

 

JNR is better for many reasons, but mainly this: the game is finished . I do not play unfinished mods. It's like reading a good book, only the auther decide to stop writting somewhere nere the end.

I would also like to know how many mods are complete at the moment that has an actual story. The mod list is becoming more confusing to me.

Sometimes it's like leaving a part of the story unsaid, left for the reader to interpret.

 

(Not counting JNR) When a normal person is faced withed finishing another person story, two things happen. One: It derails from the plot and cariees off in any random direction. Two: the reader eventually runs the story in the ground due to poor ideas and horrid mistakes that make the original story unsalvigeable. Either way, its the end of game once the creator quits.

 

If there is an award for 'best mod updated this year' it should really be given to WTF? Story. Chapter 5 has 100% cemented its position as one of the most creative and complete creations the community has ever created, and such creativity deserves special mention.

While I'm at it, I nominate Haithm for nicest user. trickybilly and Yakkers are good choices too

 

I have some questions for you, windsofwinds. First, what are the other reasons why you like JNR so much? You have only said one of the "many" that you have.
Also, why are you prejudiced by the concept of an incomplete story? Many great mods have been made by the Cave Story modding community, and a good number of them either have an incomplete story, limited story, or none at all (read: Schism, WTF Story and Boss Russ)
Also, I'm just going to through this out there, but there is a huge difference between interpretation and completing the story.

That aside, I would nominate WTF Story if DT did not nominate it. GIR when all out on that, mostly because of its balanced gameplay, its difficulty, and his creativity showed that he put his entire mind into this mod. He also accomplished creating not one, but two bosses from ASM, entirely from scratch, as well as the many other hacks that were inside the carnival. CS Redesign also gets my nomination for best mod of the year.

also are we doing a nicest user thing, because noxid, despite his sometimes blunt dealings with newer members, is always giving out advice and stuff for modding, and behavior in general. so yeah he would get a nomination from me.

Well me/noxid/cheese actually have the stats for those, so it isn't really something that's up for debate.
