Technically there shouldn't be a taboo against incest for robots sice they can't reproduce and eventually cause birth defects. So they could be both!

Curly Brace, the real one, was Curly Brace #2, and Quote was Curly Brace #1. So their short names were 1 and 2. According to Quote. Curly just thought up the nickname "Bracket" and used it in her own head.
