I have a problem with my mod being ruined. Basicly, my "hero" character is totally unwilling and just wants to go home, so I literally force them into doing anything. Explaining how I am doing so takes a lot of dialog and very little action takes place. (I've broken it up slightly by allowing the player to take the walking actions of the character, though this is not directly explained, which may potentially even make it slightly confusing.)
Then after making a few basic gameplay choices at the end of this really long sequence, suddenly the game becomes almost entirely action-oriented, with little or no dialog whatsoever until the very end.
I was hoping to make more of a Ballos-style series of single lines of a story as you fight your way along, but it became almost entirely explained beforehand... I've been reading too much into how the characters would truely act, as they are based on real people, and real people aren't exactly violent by nature.
This mod is a test of the Agora's Legends engine compatability and capabilities, so it probably won't be seen any time soon, as it contains many custom enemies and bosses which I wouldn't be able to make in vanilla Cave Story. I have been working near constantly.
Now we know what makes a mod go bad, can I have suggestions for how to make a long dialog-filled intro better? How I should break it up if it's not a monologue? I'd rather not post any more details yet, lest I cause horrible drama and controversy early.
