Jokes have already spread, and it's only been 3 hours.

"Hipsters will now buy more apple products since Steve Jobs is underground"
"Funeral arrangements? There's an app for that"

Oh, internet >_>

I'm more of a Windows person.
Oy. Even if you prefers Windows over Mac (as I do), you cannot deny that Steve Jobs was a great innovator and helped usher in our world of computing today.

I got the news during the handing out of prizes at a programming contest I was in today.
Kind of a mood killer for that crowd :)

Well if you like Windows, you may want to thank Steve Jobs for inventing computers with the graphical user interface you run Windows on.
I don't think the OS would agree with a computer that runs only command prompt.
Also, he founded Pixar, invented the computer mouse, iPods, a logistically sound way to have music over the internet, and also the most valuable company in the US short of a few oil businesses.

R.I.P. ):

And even if you do run Windows, and couldn't care less about his contributions, it isn't very PC (or nice for that matter) to laugh at the deceased.

Of course, this is the Internet, so...

:greydroll:This is a bit sad... This is not something I would want to wake up to. Anyway, he contributed a lot to the world of technology and will be missed...

This is what I was going to say. I just arrived home after a fancy dinner at a country club, meeting relatives I hadn't seen since I was an infant. On the car ride home, I was negotiating loan conditions for my upcoming purchase of the iPhone 4S with my dad (I really need a phone). After we reached an agreement, he decided to turn on the radio. The first words that were said was "Steve Jobs has passed just several hours ago."
There was an awkward silence in the car for a good minute.

Well, Jobs isn't here anymore. Pancreatic cancer struck him down.

Personally I don't really feel a whole lot of internal sorrow, but that's unrelated to the fact that I use Windows. I have to admit he was a genius at what he did, he understood how making hardware & software "look cool" was really important (at a time when Microsoft was still making everything look boxy... perhaps even to this day), and without him all his competitors would not be getting very far in the present era of computing.

Let's just say that history textbooks will certainly not omit him.

And according to this it went up today as well. Though that isn't necessarily related to Mr. Jobs death.

The rise presumably hast to do with the 4s, and has nothing to do with Jobs.
Also I believe the market closed before they released his death to the public.
