Okay here is the best way to do it:

1. Make a copy of your cave story files.
insstep1.gif

2. Extract the files for the mod into an empty folder.

3. Copy these files and paste them into the copied cave story folder and overwrite the old files with the new ones.

4. Play the mod.

The thing is, as great as something might be, you don't have any reason to revive it if the most recent post was a month ago or longer. You really don't have any reason to revive something, unless you're the creator. RuneLancer left the community, and until he gets back, leave things how he left it. You wouldn't go into a house belonging to someone you know long after the person moved away, would you?

There are actually some people who might return to the forums I guess and Runelancer is one of them. (Well Softmints, Shmitz and maybe Osmose too in my opinion)

Well crap, who would've ever thought spam was useful?

I got a notification that this thread got a reply about a week or so ago. Figuring I'd read the post in its original context, I clicked on the link without reading the email. And guess what? The last post was made a year ago. Wtf?

Seems like the thread was hit by a spambot. The spam post was sent to me as a notification, the post was deleted, and I end up wondering wtf. Or at least I guess that's what happened. And now I'm sitting here and trying to remember why I never got around to finishing that hack anyway.

Well, damn it, I hate unfinished projects. On the other hand, I have less spare time than ever, so it may not be for a little while before I pick this thing up again. I guess I can answer questions on the boards in the meantime, while I get back into this thing and remember where the heck I was taking the hack. Last thing I saw in there after replaying it were some grenades I had started to hammer into the game and a broken algorithm that caused them to get eaten up by the walls and explode off of the map instead of bouncing around...

So if anyone wants a link to the hack (I figure that's gone by now) or has any technical questions about hacking Cave Story, I suppose I can set aside a bit of time until I can get back to work on The Original Sin. :D

You can thank that rogue spambot later.
