PONQ an unusual bullet-hell with rogue-like elements inspired the hit-classic Pong.

I've just released a demo for my latest project! PONQ, a bullet-hell with the mechanics of Pong.

I've poured my heart into this project so if you do play, I really hope you enjoy it!

 

Just gave this a quick little peek, and honestly I think it's dope. I'm not very good at it, but I dig the vibe. It's got a very strong aesthetic, it's intuitive, and it's fun. I especially love how little text it has and the little paddle guy is super cute.

Very simple but very interesting gameplay! I'm surprised I've never quite seen anything like this before.

Minor gripes are that the HUD encroaches on the playing field, making it hard to see yourself when you're in the upper left. And some things aren't explained very well - like the number in the middle, or what it means when you turn purple, or why enemy attacks don't seem to hurt you?

The number in the middle is the level you're currently on.

Enemy attacks do hurt you! The player's health is indicated by the color of the paddle with blue meaning full health!
