Mewthree was created from the toenail of Mewtwo. He was then captured and cloned, in the process being spliced with Mew's DNA. It created the horrible abomination Mewfour. When Three saw what his life had created, it committed suicide. Scientists found Three's body soon after. They put Four out of its misery, and used the two bodies as well as a lucky Lopunny's foot to create the super-OP Mewfive. The sentient being escaped, and found a way to splice its own DNA with that of other Pokemon. It then named its new and improved self Mewsix.

Apparently, it's just a new form of Mewtwo. :/
Guess that's where the "awakening" part fits in of the 16th Pokémon movie.
I get the feeling that GameFreak is probably going to give several old Pokémon new forms just to keep most of the Gen VI Pokémon a surprise.
Sorry for the bump, looks like there's finally more news and this time with new Pokémon.

I looked on the x and y website today and found out that sylveon is a fairy type.

The only strange thing that's happened is Nintendo creating a godmodded new "absolute deity" of the Pokémon world, 4 generations into the series, when we already had good 'ol Mew.Thatnamelessguy said:
