Noxid's Monthly Game Challenge - Scores Galore(s)!

I asked Noxid and apparently it's just normal mode, which is sad because metsu is way more enjoyable but acceptable since metsu is actually easier.

I figure regular mode is more accessible since people don't need to be able to (?) beat all of normal mode first, and I try to keep the challenges open to all skill levels kind of

 

There is actually a cheat code that allows you to unlock Metsu mode at any point, however, I think this challenge should be limited to one mode, and I personally find normal mode more challenging to get high points on than Metsu mode.

 

I lost a lot of momentum when I switched to metsu mode, and thus I got a lot of shitty 20-to-60k scores, but now I'm starting to get back in the rhythm

Well I've sure got my work cut out for me >_> I keep getting to about the same point and then dying due to crappy block drops that I can't chain properly.

 

three tips to really think about even if you probably already know them:

- when a lot of blocks fall, wait as much as you can so that you can find big groups of same color blocks and hit them all at once
- the multicolored ball is a life-saver, hit it with a block which color is overrepresented in your game, or if you cant, with any kind of block, but don't ever let it go to waste
- when in a critical situation, switch to minigun mode and contacts between same-colored blocks will often occur by themselves

 

Most definitely hit the multicolored ball with whichever color there is the most of since you will get life back for each block you remove.

Can really save you sometimes.

 

more advice:
- hitting an already-saved piece twice makes it disappear, but hitting it once is fine, so you want to push it toward other pieces of the same colour, to make da combo chain, which gives lots of points
- if you have a really big piece that isn't saved, puh it a lot so that it carries already-saved little pieces of other colors, so that they can hit more of their brethren and make more of da combo
- try to make final pieces of a combo hit other already-dead pieces, because they give as many points as the piece that hit them, and if it's the final piece of a combo then it is a lot of points
- if your main problem is to survive, don't try to save every single piece, sometimes you will only make more pieces fall, it's okay to let some loner pieces die

 

I find the lack of updates disturbing.

Ever since school started I've been busy as usual and I'm kind of running out of games to throw out there anyway.
I can still tab the scores every once in a while if people bug me enough

Also DT had the idea to break it into "seasons" or something which I think is a good plan so the next score update will be split that way.

 

Aw, I was looking forward to participating in one of these. I was going to wait for November's game, but there wasn't a November game, so...

There are a few score worthy games I have an itching urge to play and would be fun for a challenge, but I don't know how you want the suggesting thing to work.
