Modding Awards (Past Nominations and Votes)

Both very worthy mods, but WTF caters more to my taste, so my vote goes to that. JN isn't as different of a game as WTF is, but that can be a good or a bad thing depending on what kind of mods you prefer.

Yeah I feel a little silly voting for a mod that last got updated years ago. I think it would make more sense to have it restricted to mods made within the year or similar but whatever.

Why? I personally like the fact that this is open to mods regardless of release time. It's silly to punish seniority. Not only that, but if we applied a restriction like you stated then this would be redundant since the Kanpachis already cover mods from throughout the year.

I thought that was the point of doing quarterly mod voting sessions. Like, we vote on the best recent mod available. Considering there are no restrictions and this is the first session, it's basically like we're voting on the best mod available. Kinda makes the whole "Q2 2014" a little misleading to me. I won't deny that it would be redundant with the Kanpachis, but the Kanpachis hardly promote the mod, while with this I believe it's expected to have some sort of promotion.

 

It can be any mod or custom CS-engine game thing provided that it hasn't won before (and no mod has won yet) and I mean ANY MOD regardless of when it was made.

Yes. That's the point.

Although I really can't vouch for or against the idea of it being a promotion, since there is very little insight as to why people actually voted for what they did. In what way is one mod better than the other? In what way is the other one flawed? If these questions aren't answered, neither will actually draw attention, and neither will try to improve.

"This is the greatest mod ever made", they'll say.

"Why?"

"Because a bar graph said so."

 

I think Hayden and I made our points pretty well in the other thread and I'm not going through the effort of mirroring it here.

Why should it be? The nominations, voting, and final winner are done within a 3 month cycle. Q2 means "second quarter" (Apr-Jun) in this case.

Lets be honest, how would you define "when it was made" for a mod? When it was finished? Few of the best mods can be considered finished. When it started? Wouldn't that make JN only eligible for a 2013 award?

Plus there is nothing to be gained by forcing modders to work within unrealistic timeframes.

The rules are going to be a little different this time around.

1. You may nominate any mod (or custom CS engine thing) in the history of these forums by naming it in a post.. provided of course that it hasn't won before. This means that Jenka's Nightmare by ZarroTsu is not eligible for nomination this time around.

2. You can nominate up to 3 mods (or custom CS engine things) in priority order.

3. You can nominate any mod nominated by someone else. Only up to 10 of the most nominated mods (or custom CS engine things) will be voted upon.

I would assume Hayden's 4th Ending Mod is up for nomination. I also nominate BombchuLink's Dreams of Reality 2. As for a third mod, I'll go with Carrotlord's A Lost Land mod.
