Trying to find a solution when no problem exists results in causing a problem so you can have said solution.
Just take a more careful read next time, or read less into things, whichever made this seem like it's a hostile argument thread. And rushing to 'aid' typically never really works around here...

Should this topic be in ideas and development? Shouldn't it be in the hack/mod section (with the quickie answers sticky in it)?

I will justify this by saying that the thread is about "IDEAS" in the sense that we are trying to "DEVELOP" a standardized definitions of terms commonly used in the "HACKING/MODDING" field.

 

Well, just because you use the words "ideas" and "development" doesn't mean they fit in with that category. As stated by the rules, threads in this category are supposed to be for ideas for mods without a demo or not started yet. A MOD, not ideas of what a mod (or hack) is.

EDIT: oops, I sounded like a jerk. I assure you that was not my intention.
EDIT2: also, you talk about hacking/modding ideas. The category is not hacking/modding ideas, it is hack/mod ideas. Small, but big difference.

 

Hack = screwing with the engine, and making a completely different game with it. (Volley's cancelled hack thing is an example.)
Mod = Modifying the game into an altered state.
(Borxxus, Pirate, WTF Story, Wrath of rebba rabba)

Since when is twenty days a long time? I'm pretty sure bumps are okay as long as they are not ridiculous and add some value, which yours did.
Ontopic, I stick by what I said earlier, that the classification system as it exists is stupid. While calling something slimmmmmmmmmp is probably not the best idea, I'm not sure what we have is eitehr.

It's possible to make a mod without hacks, but I'm not sure it's possible to make a hack that isn't also a mod.

At this point what bothers me most is when people call Hack9 a Cave Story hack. The engine is completely different.

 

But it's right there in the name, duh

 

So very misleading.
