I speed-runned cave story, 2 days and 5 deaths :p

...and so far I haven't died off any bosses except toroko! THe only deaths I've had was either from an enemy knocking me in spikes, or a low health problem!

I've sped thorugh most of it, and I'm upto the Labyrinth right now. I wonder how long it will take me to finish.

Trying anything special?
Like a run through with low hp/minimal items?

I was trying it with no damage, but that ended in grasstown, so I decided to see how fast I can run it, and the least amount of deaths.

I was gonna try hell but because of that save point and helath restore station in the lab, I ended up down the hole ;_;

But meh, 2 days, 5 deaths isn't bad for me. Even beating Monster X in one go is a miracle O_o Especially when I was hoping to have the Polar Star not the spur. But meh, next time it is a no death run, but I'm gonna haveto train against toroko :/

yeah torokos pretty hard i just use the polar S or the flame its easy with them but you just need to know when hes about to throw a block. if your low on health keep dodging the blocks and killing the flowers for exp and hp

Isn't that the most common reason one dies in games? ;)

not really, on the run through 3 of my deaths were from spike traps or mis-jumps, 2 were from Toroko and Undead Core.

I still didn't get the use of this thread, is it a random talk about the game thread or what kind of?
Well in this case I would rename it.

And if you need any help with parts of the game, I can try to help too.

if you can help me with setting FRAPS up so it doesn't lag Cavestory to 10 FPS when I use it in fullscreen I would be grateful.

Don't use FRAPS, it's only good for other games, not good at all for Cave Story.

The program I used to record everything was called HyperCam.

Another trick I figured out was making Cave Story run on the lowest resolution possible but still making it where you can actually see. Right click the .exe of Cave Story, click properties, go under compatibility and check "Run in 640 x 480 resolution". That way the window will be small, so it's easier to record at higher FPS, and you can still see that way.

Hopefully this'll help some.

i went for no deaths and under 10 hp, and i finished with the normal ending (when you kill the core and jump off the island) in 3 hours.... but good luck!

edit: right after i posted this I realized this might come across as snobbish. thats NOT the intention, so if you where offended I'm sorry.
