How do you save state?

The last form doesn't even require that many missiles to defeat. You can use some of them to reduce the time needed for second form.

If you're concerned with speedrunning, which I'm generally not.

Hmm, why does the walkthrough say that Ballos's last form is hard if you don't short-circuit it? It can be defeated fairly easily just by button-mashing Curly's Nemesis at it. :D
