Also, Super Mario Bros. is on there twice, #6 and #9. Maybe the second one was supposed to be Metroid, but they were too busy sucking off Nintendo to notice.
Actually...

I'm a little unhappy about The Sims making it pretty high up there, too...
{I don't even really consider it a game}

Re: What's all this?

Those are all great franchises, except those sports games. This is a list of game popularity, not necessarily quality, hence Halo and Call of Duty topping the list. I was impressed to see Zelda at number three. At least some people who read the book know what an actually good video game is.
I lol'd pretty hard when I saw Runescape at #17. That's a stupid game, and I'm not afraid of offending anyone by saying that, because if you take offense to that you can shut your mouth and GTFO my forums.
I have few problems with this list, aside from those stated, and that Metroid isn't list. Anyone who tries to convince me that Metroid Prime is worse than WWE Smackdown vs. RAW should have their electricity cut. Oh, and Guitar Hero beat Rock Band. I don't understand how that's possible, would someone please explain this to me?
Also, Super Mario Bros. is on there twice, #6 and #9. Maybe the second one was supposed to be Metroid, but they were too busy sucking off Nintendo to notice.

*Ahem*
9: Super SMASH Bros.
...
6: Super MARIO Bros.

Yeah.

Wrestling/Sports video games should all perish. Metroid is awesome. (although
I DO suck at it...)

So yeah. Just info in the Guinness World Record Book.

I looked through like most of the book and didn't see Metroid at all...0.o

EDIT: Damnit, Void!

A lot of people like sports games and Sims games. Otherwise, those kinds of people wouldn't play video games at all.

Earthbound? Breath of Fire? D:

Both of those games could be called cult classics though. Earthbound for sure way more than BoF.

And you'll never see a cult classic game on a top 50 list. The only game that could be called a cult classic on that list is Chrono Trigger, and it stopped being a cult classic many moons ago.

There's Ratchet and Clank on there, and Diablo, and Pong...

All three of those you listed are mainstream games.

ok, now that I read some of the other comments on the Gbowr2010GE, I no longer give it any credit...

After reading something about Halol topping the list, with NO metroid at all.

Oh, and the fact Cave Story didn't make 1st pisses me off too.

Call of Duty, in general, is never something I've liked. But due to Infinity Ward's major m|n, (thats the middle finger, btw) to PC gamers, I absolutely despise Modern Warfare 2, but more importantly, Infinity Ward in general.

Popularity contests are never good determinants for video games, ESPECIALLY after videogames have become mainstreamed, also not assisted by the major amount of f*gs that think Halo, MW2 and Madden are actually something you can call "gaming".

The fact runescape even made this list should say a few sad things about the book in general.

Despite this, I do have to say that:

Guitar Hero will always top Rock Band in my mind. Idky, but i also dont know why Rock Band should be considered any better than GH. Its really just a matter of what you're used to, and opinion.

And in my opinion, Guitar Hero has a better setlist, because they include Muse.

Also, they can't be "sucking" Nintendo by forgetting to include metriod. That just doesnt make sense, considering Metroid IS Nintendo (and thankfully, the ONLY series they havent made that they have royally f***ed up in some way or another [Everyone has seen what they did to Mario, and for Zelda, Spirit Tracks would make all of Link's ancestor's turn in their graves. Worst zelda storyline and progression ever.] )

I think Halo is a pretty cool guy. Eh shoots aleins and doesn't afraid of anything.
Seriously, this is what happens when you ask NORMAL PEOPLE about games, who will say either the first thing that comes to mind or the series with the best ("best" meaning highest polygon count) graphics. Or RUNESCAPE, which is average at best, laughable at worst.
EDIT: Well, gamers all say halo too, but only the ones who have only been playing since 2000 (which is true for me, but I've played older games).

I think she meant just the fact that the book exists.
