Do you think Scott ever really meant for Golden Freddy to be part of the main game? Like it seems like in the first game he was nothing more than a easter egg.

Seriously, I don't understand the long-run appeal of this game. As with all jumpscares, they lose their scariness after about a weak or so's exposure. Which is exactly why there was a second one. New jumpscares, keep you interested. And now third. New jumpscares. Because that's it. That's all this game can do. That's all it is, and I don't understand why people have cared for so long.

I know there's a story, I know the entire plot of the game series. (well not the third, obviously) I agree that it does have a fandom, and as long as it's there, there will be more games; I just don't understand why the fandom exists. By all rights, this game shouldn't be as popular as it is. I won't deny it is popular, I guess there's something that sets it apart from other jumpscare games, I just can't find it.
As for the actual scares, I don't think the 'story' contributes enough to the atmosphere to make me shit my pants just from sitting in an office. Be honest, you're not going to get really scared until the jumpscare happens.

The game is supposed to make you feel spooked throughout because you're supposed to be watching the animatronics and making sure they don't fuck you so that you can actually beat the game.
It's more strategy/horror, which is a bit unique in my taste but I haven't played a lot of spook games so idk.
The story is solely intended to give the game depth and to give actual meaning as to what the fuck you're doing. Now, you could NOT play the game and still know the story; it kinda works both ways, but experiencing the game yourself is more impressionable than just knowing the story.

I do, but it doesn't add to the suspense of playing. While playing, I'm not gonna go "Oh wow everything's great WAIT A MINUTE CHILDREN WERE STUFFED IN SUITS 20 YEARS AGO DSOHAFSDKLFHSKDFHAS" and shit myself.
