Wait no but don't all the enemies PLUS bosses die? So that rules out like, over half the characters.

Uh...the fireplace is cute - oh wait that dies with Jellyfish Juice. And that's abiotic so

I'm thinking the cutest "living" thing is going to be Malco - not solely by appearance, but his sweet robotic characteristics and the drive to cure his loneliness. If Malco counts, considering he is a robot but then again, so are Quote and Curly Brace. We're really dwindling down to the Mimigas and plant life here. Hmm Doctor Gero maybe? Or Nurse Hasumi.

Pre-Cave Story, I'd say Toroko is the most adorable.

No. The idea was that until that door opened both possibilities (dead or alive) existed at the same time.
