• Hey everyone happy Christmas Eve we're aware of what's happened with the source code so to keep this simple absolutely don't post it on the site or use it to make mods with (it's not particularly preferable toward this end anyway) and tread lightly in general until we see how this settles, thanks to all and have a great holiday season -DT

just wondering what people don't like about the game.
The game is a little on the short side (still longer than most free-warez)
Balrog just kinda disappeared until the ending after you got out of the labyrinth Also, Hell is way too much Hell:p

For me, it would have to be the falling blocks (Including Ma Pignon's version)

They usually tend to squash me flat (The Island's blocks hate me so much)... But without them the game would be too easy for me...

Its not the fact that it does -127, its the fact that, you touch you die!

Now that is fun.:)

No Basil while Scorching Back is playing.

From the save point to the Core fight, especially if you must retry yes no every time you get up to there in a playthrough.

That cutscenes aren't skippable on replays. It's the one thing that hurts, but doesn't manage to kill, the game's ability to be played several times for all the weapons and for self imposed challenges.

Oh and the boss battle cutscenes kill you during your first playthrough if you are stuck on a certain boss and have to watch the cutscene again and again and again and again and...

I can agree with that.

It left you wanting more, and dissappointed when you found out there would be no sequel. But luckily modding was made possible after, so it all worked out i guess.

There were no big downers in the game for me, and the little things only became more noticeable after I'd played a few times. The biggest problem for me now is that enemies and bosses are often very susceptible to weapon spam, and that most battles can generally be won by just shooting faster. Other than that it's all good, if anything I've grown more attached to the game over time, especially the music.

Complaints hmm...
When I first played the game I thought there MUST be a way to save Toroko and maybe King too. You had hardly gotten to know them and there they were already meeting their maker. Pissed me off to not have a way to save them/a new ending to save them with.

Also, I could complain that I think Cave Story is a short story. Abbriviated events, least amount of words used, etc... Now it does shine though as an amazing short story/game. Everything including Toroko's demise furthers the game's success as a short unique game.

My complaint is I wish there had been a long version of the game... lol But, maybe that'd be a mistake somehow, maybe we just need sequels and prequels!

I always kinda get bored in running through Grasstown and I remember the Labyrinth battles seem slightly not perfect somehow...

Hmph lol but in the end I love Cave Story enough to be glued to these forums still playing the game here and there, and keeping it on my desktop ;)

Oh yeah, my other complain about the game is that if you're the type to make multiple playthroughs, you'll end up knowing Sand Zone like the back of your hand because you are required to run through the place so many times getting all those dogs, running through the same places with the same enemies. I really wish you could just grab them all in one trip, or skip the darn fetch quest.

Umm... what's the point of complaining about Cave Story on the forums about Cave Story?

Really, there's not much to fault. Kinda I wish that quote could do somersaults, though. Or if he could throw grenades.

Actually the only problem I have is that sometimes I'm thinking go left, but I'm pushing the right button. The telepathy reception of the game isn't so good. (Not that I push the wrong button often ^^;;; )

I am willing to bet that you forgot to install the telepathy receptor and the related drivers and software (plus setting it to override keyboard fuctions). :p

Ugh? I couldn't find the windows drivers, so maybe that's the problem. Or because I wasn't peddling the bicycle that powers it fast enough.
