With all the mods, I doubt I'd CS is the same.

Reason I support Chinfish/Porcupine fish:
1. It's so fuxorin' obvious in the game.
2. I'm sure they were meant to be together, or else Pixel would have [edit]ed them out (pun intended).
3. THEY'RE SO KAWAII, OMFG!!!

Though I'm fairly certain the reason for the [Edit]s it the use of f**k, f******g and motherf****r.
And if I'm wrong, I have a dirty mind.

And has a gun that shoots fire. Not only that, but the fire burns underwater (as stated in another thread). The fire also happens to bounce up and down slopes, of which grasstown consists mainly of. Kind of weird, don't you think?
As I said before, the Fireball is an energy weapon and does not shoot fire. The shots only LOOK sorta like fireballs, hence the name. If those are meant to be actual fireballs then Pixel did a crap job of making it look like it.

Plasma Spheres.
The trails at the higher levels (therefore energies) are the effect plasma has on air.
And plasma doesn't burn. It's just really damn hot.

Signs you're a TRUE Cave Story fanatic: The only keys on your keyboard that are worn are X,Z,A,S, the D-Pad, Esc and F2... And maybe Q.
~OR~
You never touch the keyboard (except to reply in forums) cause your hands are glued to a gamepad.
What about those who play it on PSP, GP2X, or XBOX?
I use the gamepad for PC but I usually play it on my PSP.

However, inorder to explain the bouncing, the plasma would have to generate a magnetic field that also isolates it from the air (thus avoiding that huge explosion from burning air)...
But as it cools, the plasma loses field strength and so loses more energy and therefore heat...
That's why it does less damage at range!

Wait...
To generate the plasma, it'd have to have a LOT of power...
And plasma is hot (duh!), so the weapon would require a cool-down time...
So that's why you can only have a max of 4 (lvl 3) at a time - the gun cools and recharges its (yet unknown - nuclear? Fusion?) power supply while the shots do their thing!

Next task: explaining the Snake.

I love the Fireball.
Almost as much as the Snake.

I just realized how useless a fireball that goes through wall would be...
It'd fall through the floor!

The weapons in CS are remarkably good at dispersing heat, look at the spur for instance, it doesn't need a cooldown time, can you imagine the amount of heat that is generated. Also physics are slightly different (eg. magic) in the CS universe so they may have ways to generate power based on different physics. I confused the matter, sorry... :D

Actually, the Spur does have a cooldown time:
The duration of the shot + ~10 ticks...
So, maybe a second between shots (excluding charge time).
It's small, but it's killed me so many times...
Thats why I detest the Spur.

The spur can stay on max charge indefinitely with no chance of cooldown or recharge.

But as long as the power isn't dis/charging, there is (theoretically) no heat being generated by the weapon...
Cause if total energy in > total energy out, it is litterally generating energy out of nowhere. Impossible. Unless the Hermit Gunsmith is really Misery/Jenka/Ballos in disguise, then magic can't explain it.

Cave Story is a mixture of magic and technology. Even the intro scene proves that. So you just can't apply the laws of physics here.

For example, the missile launcher doesn't generate enough heat to kill a medium HP monster in 1 shot, but the next one, that's supposed to be of same magnitude in heat, not only kills it, but also makes the monster evaporate.

The energy could be stored as magic and then converted to other energy types when fired. There are any number of possible ways these weapons could work under a different yet similar set of physics, nevermind how advanced these guys are in technology, but the fireball explaination makes sense.
