Cave story eshop Recolored for halloween

Looks like it's just a halloween skin change.

Still pretty cool though.

On that note: Do you guys think that Nicalis would do this for other holidays?

I think I found a new easter egg. (I've searched around for it but I haven't found it yet)

I'm not sure how it happened, but after listening to each song on my jukebox for quite a long time, I returned to the game to find quote recolored.
He's now wearing dark blue pants and hat and has red eyes. On my curly file I found the same thing but her hair was black too.

Anyone want to try and find out how it works? I think you have to listen to each song you have in the jukebox for a long time but I'm not too sure.

It looks like it's permanent too.

Details

- Quote file played last; at prefab building full health, spur, nemesis, and booster 2.0 before boss battle.
- Listened to jukebox for about 2 hours switching in between files etc.
- Sue was
- recently tried beating undead core; got through misery without losing health
- main menu and save file icons show quote and curly in normal colours
- Starting a new game in any mode still shows recolours.
- no way I know of to turn it back to normal.

I'm afraid I can't make any actual speculations without seeing the pictures.

For anyone interested, here are some spritesheets that show off the Halloween spirtes for Cave Story +.

And yes, they already have an entire skin/spriteset for Christmas. I wouldn't mind seeing skinsets for, say, Valentine's Day... or Easter... etc. These are great and yes, they motivate me to play through the game again just to see how cool and different everything looks.

That said, I wish there was a way to disable the season-themed sprites. They're cool, but sometimes I just want to see plain-old Cave Story without any special recolors and stuff.

Depends on the version, but I know 100% that you can disable them on Cave Story+. If you go to the options, toggle "seasonal" off to get rid of halloween and christmas.

I think he has the 3DS eShop version. I just checked, there isn't a seasonal option on that version, oh well.

Yep. The eShop version is the one I have, and there's no toggle. But at least from what I see, the only seasonal changes the eShop version brings are to Quote's sprite.
