20 points for completeness (1-Only title screen is changed, 10-There is at least One Level(+5 points for each additonal level added to game)
Yeah honestly I think the criteria are a little silly. A unique challenge mod may have only one map, but by the criteria it'd be worth 10/20 points for completeness. JJ doesn't seem to have a very good plan for running the contest... Lemme propose a change in criteria.EnlightenedOne said:Another note you might have missed: I highly doubt you would want something worked on for about a year to be "completed" this month and count towards this.
The Carnage Clash, the mod I've been working on, is as unique as you can get, but that would be unfair to those who would join this with 15 days left to create something.
Sure, you can't really test to see if someone cheated in this way, but it still is an issue you could address as well.
AKA There should probably be a rule against things started before today, even though you can't effectively enforce that.

20 points are for completeness: if the submission was clearly rushed it will lose points (up to 5). Similarly, if the submission suddenly drops off or turns into the original Cave Story without explanation, points will be lost (up to 5). Points will be lost (up to 10) for not having at least one complete section of the submission finished - in a challenge-type mod, one level may suffice for this. In a more story-oriented mod, a clear section or area must have been completed.
20 points for neatness: 3 points will be lost for every major error in the submission. 1 point will be lost for every minor error.
30 points for creativity: This is hard to gauge, and so will be determined from the average from a small panel of judges (judges TBD). The final 30 points are from a percentage of how many people liked the submission out of how many people voted. This will be determined in a poll, in which one can select multiple options, in January.

It would be easier to make the rules state that any mod released (complete or not) before the start of the competition cannot qualify, because technically if they've released it before the compo then it has been done before, and it is ineligible anyway.jj4226 said:Update: Added the rule concerning mods that disallows mods that have been in development for 5 months (Huge Month-long Gaps do not count in the total 5 month limit.
