three noticed flaws in cs+

• Boss rush plays the seal chamber music before fighting the Heavy Press, but then plays the usual core room music before fighting Ballos. This was probably a silly mixup. I'm not sure if this is in every NiCALiS port.

• The credits for the normal ending have the info for Balrog as "A new friend", which only applies in the best ending.

• If you confirm 'curly story' on the menu, & check the empty save slots, the "best time" displays a ridiculous "99'59'9"

Balrog did help you and curly out of the boulder chamber, so "A new friend" still sorta applies... Almost.

I'm a bit surprised to see this one, since that's something it seems shouldn't be happening if that's part of the original story mode, and I'm pretty sure the original Cave Story didn't have that problem. I guess I shouldn't put that past NICALiS, though. I also don't recall whether or not that problem was present in earlier versions of CS+.

 

Another issue:
Alot of graphics manage to look worse than scale 2x.

 

- "Curse Broken" achievement is not working.
- Curly Story

 

Let's not forget the various tiles in the game that are just gone, replaced by air or somebody did a lazy job iirc.

It's not uncommon for games to display best times as the max by default until a new record is set so it's not really that uncommon.

 

One of the Monster-X/Undead Misery fish missile sprites has un-rescaled eyes. Like one of the directional frames has pixely square eyes. This is from WiiWare to Switch now, and even in Halloween Mode

Switch version tbh. I dont have it though. I can just tell its good.

I have the steam version, freeware version & the 3ds version. Why i have 3 versions of this game is unknown.

Freeware, because you can basically play all of them with it.

Both original japanese version and fan translation doesn't have that problem. CS+ does, from earliest versions.

Tyrone is a piece of shit, the sound quality is fucking terrible, some of the translation changes make absolutely no sense, and (this might just be for me), but the screen is slightly blurred. Even though i found out about Cave Story through the Wii Ware port, after five years of playing the original CS, it makes me wonder why the hell i even cared about Cave Story after playing that version (Granted i was like, seven, but still)

Also me personally, I hated the feel of the sideways wii-mote, I never had a wii-pro-controller, so it was a miracle I ever got the best ending on wii.
