I mean, the bots are probably either search worms or API or something of the like. And guests, probably people either looking stuff about the game these forums are about, or people looking for something else entirely.

And then you got people wanting the nostalgia but forgot their password, even though their accounts are so easy to recover.

Bots = basically any bot that is honest about being a bot, such as search crawlers/indexers.
Guests = non-logged-in users, or non-logged-in bots who pretend they aren't bots.

The slow yet inevitable collapse of Twitter and Reddit has left me a bit shaken...
...until I realized that forums like this one and message boards like 4chan still exist,
and even if they collapse, several more will be created to take their place.

Besides, I mostly use forums, message boards, and fanfiction sites,
so the enshittification (wonderful name) doesn't really affect me personally.

It's a term coined like last year to refer to social platforms that are slowly getting worse due to striving for profits.

Tiny communities and forums will always remain wonderful because they don't have this happening to them, while they also make keeping track of everything you care about a bit more easily. I'm not in any public Discords because I couldn't imagine keeping track of them lmao.

I don't know if I'm commenting correctly, the only other forum I used was a Vocaloid one when I was in the 6th grade. I hope I'm doing this right. This is a very strange situation, I've had some time to think about it. It's a funny story, yea but what do I do? It seems like the other person hasn't come back, do I leave the password how it is, or what? How did they get my gmail? And also, why me??

I've had a ton of questions, I should also say my brother is not a Cave Story fan. When I initially made this post, I'm ngl I was hysterical. What do I actually do with this account? I'm hoping they come back, I have so many questions on why and how. My boyfriend thinks it's actually my brother who did it, and he's embarrassed but that would've meant at the age of 11 he would've known what a throw away account was, and I just completely doubt it.

windows defender gave me a big scare yesterday over an apparent virus
it was not a virus, it was just it freaking out over newly placed ORGs in a mod
i put old ORGs back in, replaced different ones with the new ones i wanted to use, and now it's all good

I've found that a lot of modern anti-virus software doesn't know what to do with a lot of the content that gets shared here, since it's so niche and kind of involves working with a game that's almost 20 years old now.
