EDIT 2: If you are reading this for a solution, try windowed mode.
Yep. I can't see anything. At all. No tiles, no text, no objects, nope, nada, zilch. The only things I can see are the background (cool blue in the intro and first cave, dark yellowish brown on the title screen) and the little flashing block marker thing at the end of text boxes... I know there are things happening because the sound still works fine, music and all. Everything works EXCEPT for the visuals. Help me, please! :(
EDIT: Forgot to mention one important thing! I'm running Windows as a virtual machine on my Mac.

1. Open the door
2. Get on the floor
3. Re-install windows 8.
4. 64x windows 8 systems exist? It should ALL be 86x .

I'm resisting the urge to call you names
there is no x86 windows 8, x86 is 32-bit
x64 is 64-bit x86

To be honest, that's probably the reason.

I guess that would make sense, but I've played other games on my virtual machine and I've never come into this problem... why would it only happen with Cave Story? ...I know the problem probably has to do with it not reading the graphics files correctly, because I bet the text end marker isn't an image from a file, so it shows up correctly. Hmm...

I think you need to use 24-bit bitmaps with the hacky version of directX on wine

...What do you mean? I'm actually running Windows, just inside Mac OSX in a little window. Even though I could just run the Mac version of Cave Story, I want to run it on Windows so I can mod the game. And what do you mean bitmaps? The image files are .pbm files...
