Why would we need to be reminded of this?
Also, his name is not "Shadow Quote," but Quote from Cave Story Beta. He looks Halloweenie, so Pixel decided to put him as a reskin during mid-late October. Also, on Christmas Quote turns into a reindeer and on New Year's he turns into some sort of African-American baby. Cave Story + will have some sort of Quote with a pumpkin as a head. Possibly for Thanksgiving, if I remember correctly he was wearing Pilgrim clothes.

It's not actually beta quote, beta quote's colors would change depending on what room he was in, and he also didn't have red eyes.

He's more ghosty than beta-y.
Also, take a peek at the double res, it's the face is slightly different iirc.

EDIT: just checked Cave Story+, and yeah, he has a creepy smile on his face.

I didn't actually know they had sprites pertaining to random holidays on the WiiWare version, so I started a new game on hard mode the other night, completely unaware.

"WTF? why am I green... Is my TV failing?! ..Shit! Now i'll have to buy a new television!"

I don't believe there's any red on the title menu, nor in the starting area; even the life capsules were removed so I had no direct way of knowing.. So yeah, that was probably the scariest halloween for me ever... >_>;
