I swear that we had this same question asked a while ago. but skimming through the theory threads, I don't see any recent ones besides maybe "When Is Balrog"

Cave story's time probably took place in the future that our parents/grandparents dreamed about. you know, the one with levitating vehicles, effective jet packs, and androids.
