what's the story behind your nickname

So back in highschool I briefly got obsessed with Monster Musume because it was a good modern reference to learn what "anime monster person" was as a kid that was kinda vaguely into learning about some hyperspecific mythologies my school wouldn't teach.
I'd spam the monster musume op in vcs and it would annoy everyone in the room.
Hence the 'JadeMonsuta' at most places

I picked "Jade" as my chosen name because it sounds nice and was a generic enough name if that makes any sense.

 

My username is literally the name of a character I made, whose name is a Japanese... er, "adaptation" of my actual name. Probably stretching thin both my weebiness and my internet safety, but meh. My display name is usually "Tomasu" anyways.

 

i've gone by a lot of online handles and subsequent nicknames, but 'Eli' is a (unorthodox) shortening of my deadname which i started using as an online nickname for reasons i forget... by the time i realised i wanted to go by a new name irl, i'd been going by 'Eli' online for so long that it just felt natural* - and i never bothered to switch nicknames online, even though this is now my legal first name oops. i've been using 'elipsis' more often these days though, which is just a pun on 'ellipsis' as in '...'

(*this is, in hindsight, lucky because given i was like, really into deltarune, i probably would've picked my name to be 'kris' or something equally embarrassing)

 

...wait, "eli" is both your deadname and your alivename? then would that make your name some kinda "schrodinger's name"?

 

as funny as that would be, not really... 'eli' is not what the expected nickname/shortened version of that name would be, i don't even remember how i decided on it

this won't be a surprise but i did literally take the name of the touhou character because i really liked her at the time
i might have moved on from just having the profile be centered around her but the name kinda stuck and people already knew me by it so i figured there was no point in introducing more chaos. it's short, it's cute, it works, i suppose
