What do you need for a 100% game?

So, I want to play Cave Story again, for the 3rd time. But now I want to do a 100% game. But what actually is a 100% game?
Imo a 100% game is:
-All items
-All requiries for getting to hell
-All Lifecapsuls and Missle expansions
-As many as possible weapons
-Defeating Ballos

 

I'd say you'd have to include all secret bits of dialogue. That should include stuff like talking to booster while wearing the mimiga mask.

 

I agree with Vercci, plus it isn't too hard to do. I just talk by default to eveyone twice to see if their dialogue changes.

Hmm, yeah maybe. You could actually say there are more way's to play the game 100%. Because you can have different weapons. Like do you want to have the little guy in your pocket, for the ending dialogue secret, or do you give it to his family, and equip the nemesis?

All items includes the three secret ones - Chaco's Lipstick, Curly's Underwear, and the Alien Medal (Mushroom Badge and Clay Figure Medal are pretty obvious).

But yeah, I'd assume basically that, as well as all secret dialogue that isn't locked out by one of the above (e.g. Misery's dialogue with the Mimiga Mask, because to get that you have to give up on Sacred Ground).

"As many as possible weapons" should probably be Spur (w/ Whimsical Star)/Super Missile Launcher/Fireball/Bubbler/Nemesis - this involves the most picking up of items and running around.

Not all of them, if there is a secret dialougue that makes it impossible to do one of these thing above, you don't need to get it.

You missed out the Super Missile Launcher. You get the Blade automatically, while the Nemesis requires a quest, so you should go for the Nemesis.

But when the little guy asks you to trade weapons, you can also say 'no'.
So you can do the quest, but not take the nemesis. Do you btw need the nemesis to get to Hell?

Yeah, but the Nemesis is still the "more advanced" weapon and counts as another "item pickup".

Meh, I'm being pedantic. It's your run, do what you like, I'm just telling you what my opinion of 100%ing the game is.

No, you do not need the Nemesis to get to Sacred Ground (there are, in fact, no weapon requirements for Sacred Ground). Curly, however, uses a Nemesis in Sacred Ground (this is not affected by whether you have the Nemesis or even whether you're using the Nemesis - you can both use the Nemesis at once, actually).

I mean, the Nemesis isn't that useful if you have the Spur, because it only barely outDPSes the Spur's level 3 shots, but it looks cool and proves you did that quest.

I know. You can, however, then get the Nemesis again.

Basically you're comparing the sequence 0, 2, 4, 6,... with the sequence 1, 3, 5, 7,...

Wait how the hell do you do that? Dont you need to talk to momo so the rocket gets activated and thus she gives you back your booster and takes the mask away?

No. You can activate the rocket without talking to her and hence with the Mask instead of the Booster.

Makes the Undead Core quite a bit trickier, because you have to stand on the minicores instead of being able to boost up from the floor.

No, the Mimiga Mask doesn't create the fans, they're always there in Final Cave (as opposed to Last Cave (Hidden)). You just aren't likely to notice them if you have the 0.8, because you won't need them.
