What caused the explosion in Egg Corridor?

Now that I think about it, what ever happened to the instant kill thing that ran around the bottom of the egg corridor?It may have nothing to do with the explosion, but it would suck if it got loose.

Oh, but don't you think that an extreme explosion is a little bit more powerful than anything Quote can have at the time the Corridor is normal?

 

or at all ever? we're only sure he's invincible to the dinky little laser pistol you show up with and the rocket launcher, and if you bother to try to go back before Sand Zone (if you're allowed to), you might find that he's immune to the Fireball too

it's the question of "how big a gun would you need to kill/hurt that thing" vs. "does it have an omni-invul flag set"

 

EGG CORRIDOR STORY

Arthur was a great hero!... but he was also a scientist. As a scientist, Arthur took care of a whole bunch of Flying Dragon eggs in an Egg Corridor he built most of himself. His friend Igor worked with him to monitor the eggs too.

When Arthur died Igor went mad and ate the Red Flowers in the corridor. This screwed with his memory and he forgot Arthur died, and he attacked anyone who came into the corridor. For example, Sue, who went to the corridor looking for a means of escape.

When Quote defeated Igor, it turns out that he still tended the eggs. Without anyone to care for them, by the time Quote got back there, they had hatched... into monstrosities. The monstrosities (Zombie Dragons) attacked the place and made it all destroyed. The hatching of the eggs might've been an explosion, causing the robot to remember an explosion, not realizing what was going on. Given that Basil lives under the eggs, this would've killed him. FIN

 

Actually, it was like that when I got there, eggs were just sitting there, the humans from ten years ago were the ones that built the place up to that metal corridor, installed all those machines to monitor the eggs, and when they "left" the Island, Igor just kinda moved in. He always was fascinated with machines and computers.
