And now it's time for... DT making up a story from scratch!!!
-Guy is situated at an exploration outpost in an as-yet unexplored area of the game world, preparing for a routine expedition.
-Expedition begins, Guy eventually becomes separated from group. Following protocol, he heads back to the outpost, but runs into some mechanical creature on the way back.
-Defeats said creature, returns to the outpost, finds the one guy they left there isn't there anymore. He sends a message through to home base or whatever and then turns in for the night.
-A big electrical storm happens during the night, part of the roof is torn off and Guy is sucked out into the storm.
-Guy wakes up IN A VAGUELY DIFFERENT WORLD! WOO SCARY. He stumbles around for a while before running into a village of as-yet undefined creatures.
-He stays there a short while to study things, then decides he needs to return and report his findings. He's given directions to the dimensional rift type thing and heads there.
-He finds his way home, and returns to the damaged outpost to find law enforcement personnel there. Turns out the rest of the expedition had vanished, as had the guy on duty at the outpost.
-He tries to explain things, but when he reveals that he may have caused the electrical storm, he is deemed partially responsible for the incident and escorted ultimately to a court hearing.
-Nobody believes his story, but he is found to be innocent, on the condition that he never speaks of his experience in any professional environment again (outside of medical instances). He is relegated to a desk job in the city.
-Many years later, the world has changed somewhat. There is a worldwide power shortage, which has stunted the growth of electronic technologies. The area where the outpost used to stand has long since been explored properly, and nothing has been discovered that fits Guy's story other than some charred metal remains.
-A young lady is working in the government's data archives when a blackout occurs. By candlelight, she stumbles upon an old office that is up for renovations, and finds Guy's diary in there. Upon reading it, she finds out his story, and then true adventure begins...
There, that's just off the top of my head. This is just one idea, like I said, a genre would be really helpful...
I'm hoping you're still intending to go ahead with this project since I'm actually interested in this one
